The Bangladeshi Minister of Labour, Handk Musharraf Hussein, announced that the newly introduced wage structure for ready-made garment workers, which was unveiled on July 29, will come into effect on November 1.
He emphasized that the new wage policy will be reviewed and discussed with representatives from all relevant parties, including members of the salary board, to address any concerns or objections. However, he reiterated that the implementation date remains firm at November 1.
Handk also urged garment workers to remain cautious and not be misled by non-governmental organizations. He encouraged them to avoid protests, unrest, vandalism, or any form of violent behavior that could disrupt the industry.
In addition, he called on both factory owners and workers to foster a positive and collaborative environment within the apparel sector, urging them to move away from confrontation and work together for stability and growth.
Handk once again stressed the importance of maintaining peace and avoiding any form of conflict. He assured that the government will continue to act as an impartial third party in resolving disputes, with a dedicated department in place to handle any incidents efficiently and fairly.
