Bangladeshi New Costume Workers Pay Structure Takes Effect in November

The Bangladeshi Minister of Labour, Handk Musharraf Hussein, recently announced that the newly introduced wage structure for ready-made garment workers will come into effect on November 1. This decision, which was officially declared on July 29, aims to bring more stability and fairness to the sector, which is a cornerstone of Bangladesh's economy.

Minister Handk emphasized that the new wage policy will be discussed with representatives from all relevant parties, including members of the salary board, in an effort to address any concerns or objections. However, he reiterated that the implementation date remains firm at November 1, regardless of ongoing discussions.

In addition, the minister urged garment workers to remain cautious and not be influenced by non-governmental organizations that may incite unrest. He called on them to avoid participating in protests, sabotage, riots, or any form of destructive behavior that could harm the industry and their own livelihoods.

Handk also appealed to both factory owners and workers to foster a positive and cooperative environment within the apparel sector. He encouraged them to move away from confrontation and work together to build a more sustainable and prosperous future for the industry.

Furthermore, the minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining peace and preventing any form of conflict. He stated that the government will act as a neutral third party in resolving disputes and ensuring that all issues are addressed through proper channels. A dedicated department has been established to handle any incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring that the industry continues to operate smoothly and safely.
