The "Jacket" certification is set to bring about a comprehensive transformation in the Chinese jacket industry, driving its upgrade and modernization. Recently, a key meeting on the standardization of China's jacket industry was held in Xiamen, where the final draft of the national standard for jackets underwent detailed review and discussion by representatives from the China National Garment Association, the National Standardization Technical Committee, the National Textile and Apparel Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, as well as officials from Fujian Province’s Fiber Inspection Bureau and local quality supervision departments.
Experts, scholars, and industry leaders participated in the meeting, ensuring that the revised standard would be both comprehensive and practical. It is expected that after this final review, the standard will be submitted to the National Standardization Administration for approval and eventual implementation. This new standard is seen as a crucial step forward, reflecting the current state of the industry and setting a benchmark for future development.
According to Zhang Guangmin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China National Garment Association, the outdated standards had long hindered the growth of the industry. With the emergence of brands like Rimula, which have made significant technological and production advancements in the jacket sector, it became clear that the existing standards were no longer sufficient. "While the industry moves forward, our standards must also evolve," he emphasized.
Professor Wang Fumei, a doctoral tutor at Donghua University and a member of the jacket working group, agreed, pointing out that uneven R&D capabilities and varying levels of production capacity had become major constraints in the industry. The completion of the national jacket standard is expected to provide a strong foundation for the industry's continued growth.
With the new standard in place, manufacturers, consumers, and regulatory bodies will have a clearer framework for evaluation and quality control. This will not only help regulate the market but also promote sustainable and healthy development. Moreover, it will protect consumer interests and encourage innovation among enterprises.
Looking ahead, collaboration with international organizations such as ISO is expected to further align Chinese standards with global ones, enhancing the competitiveness of the Chinese jacket industry on the world stage.
The new standard includes updated requirements related to safety, environmental protection, and product performance, including specific indicators like fabric moisture resistance, color fastness, formaldehyde content, and pH levels. These changes are aimed at improving product quality and eliminating substandard producers, thus accelerating industrial upgrading.
Rimula played a central role in the revision process, leveraging its 20 years of experience in quality inspection and its close ties with the national jacket laboratory. As a leader in the industry, Rimula has been actively involved in shaping the national standard, seeing it as a strategic move to benefit both the company and the broader sector.
As Li Jin, Vice President of Rimula, stated, the revision of the standard not only reflects responsibility toward consumers but also helps reduce costs, improve efficiency, and establish a more regulated market. For Rimula, this effort represents a milestone in its long-term commitment to the development of the Chinese jacket industry.
Over the past 30 years, Rimula has grown into one of the leading brands, with thousands of retail outlets and a strong supply chain. The company hopes to share its standardized strategies with other industry players, turning its experience into a broader industry advantage. As Rimula continues to push for progress, it remains committed to driving the entire jacket industry toward a more structured and competitive future.
