Turquoise in China is mainly produced in Hubei, Shaanxi, Henan, Anhui, and other provinces, as well as Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Among them, Hubei has the largest turquoise output, the best quality, and is renowned both at home and abroad. After exploration by some geologists, it was discovered: From south of Su’nan to southern Yunnan, from northwest Hubei to southwest, south of Shaanxi, Qinghai and Xinjiang, there is a southeast–northwest discontinuous pine belt.

Shiyan City, Hubei Province is the world's largest producer of turquoise. 75 percent of the world's turquoise is from Shiyan County, Minxi County, and Zhushan County. Shiyan is therefore known as the "hometown of Eastern Turquoise".

Due to Shiyan's rich turquoise surface, it is pure, delicate in texture and bright in color. The colors are mostly sky blue, aquamarine, pink blue and pink green.

The sky-blue turquoise is extremely rare. Geologists also found that turquoise mines often extend regularly along faults. Turquoise rocks appear in veins and joints in joint fractures. In the fracture zone between parent rock layers, turquoise mines are lenticular. Shaped, beaded, etc. appear.

Turquoise in Shaanxi is mainly distributed in Muzhaiying, Yueertan, etc. Among them, the turquoise of Yueertan Lake in Baihe County is the most famous. It is an extension of the turquoise mine in the northwestern part of Hubei Province, according to legend, since Tang and Song Dynasties it was Sky blue, emerald green turquoise, mining sites are distributed within ten kilometers, there are 20 turquoise months, turquoise, sky blue, light blue, green, dark green, yellow green, yellow, etc. It has a sheer gloss for transparency.

Turquoise in Xinjiang is produced in the territory of Hami County and is located in the carbonaceous siliceous rocks at the bottom of the Cambrian in Tianshan. East-west spreading, the quarry is distributed in ancient carbonaceous siliceous rocks. The turquoise is irregular in shape, and the color is mainly green or yellowish. The texture is far less than the turquoise produced in Hubei and Shaanxi.
