HC Chemicals News: Dow DuPont plans to outsource a production line of aramid intermediates in India for its bulletproof Kevlar fabrics and flame retardant Nomex materials. The closure of the New Jersey plant will result in 100 jobs being unemployed, and Virginia, which is investing $50 million to modernize, will continue to produce.
The New Jersey plant will end production this month and the line will be disintegrated this summer. Local reports said that laid-off workers may be transferred to other Dow DuPont factories.
The Delaware News commented that due to the split in the coming months, India's Transpek will become a major supplier to the US market in the future.
A spokesperson said that “purchasing materials from other companies with newer, more cost-effective processes allows us to focus our resources on growth.â€
The New Jersey production line is located at the ChamberW orks plant, which was separated from Chemours in 2015 and leased by Dow DuPont. At the end of 2016, nearby Carneys Point filed a $1.1 billion lawsuit against DuPont accusing it of evading environmental cleanup fees. However, Du Pont stated that he will perform his due obligations.
